In the town San Juan y Martinez, in the Vuelta Abajo, there is a wrought-iron gate with the inscription “Hoyo de Monterrey, José Gener, 1860”, which indicates that Mr. Gener used to be a tobacco grower before he registered his mark in 1865.
Although it kept its traditional packaging, the Hoyo brand has been subject to deep changes. The Hoyo de Monterey cigars are the best new generation cigars, more pliable, with great draw and excellent burning properties, with just the right fragrance and flavour, and no excess of light (lager) tobacco in blend. Nearly all sizes are packed in special sliding cases.
The flavour of Hoyo de Monterrey's blend makes it an attractive choice for those who seek a delicate yet aromatic Habano that is slightly mild to the taste but with great elegance and complexity.
